Nice view in the winter when it's frozen. Worth a shirt detour and there is a small parking next to it. Can be a bit tricky in the winter as it's a small road to the parking.
Felt that it was a good view when going to the opposite side of the camping
Good signage along E14 and and easy turn takes you on a gravel road into Ristafjäll camping. This is the best starting point to the falls and family friendly. Ample parking with a small fee for day visitors. You can hear the falls already at the carpark. Although it is not as big as Tännforsen, it is still awesome. You can get very close to a vantage point directly in front of the main waterfall. On sunny days, you might even see rainbows 🌈 in the sprays. On rainy days, the waters spews out in endless gigantic spurts. At the small café, you can get snacks, coffee, tea and some light meals. Tge waffle with strawberry jam and cream is good. There is only a single toilet. At the camp ground, there is a bathroom and toilets but you need a code. There is a walking trail that leads out to St. Olavsleden. Takes about an hour from the café. Trail is narrow, rocky and some parts muddy or overgrown with thick tree roots. Full of biting bugs and mossies during wet months so bring a repellent and dress appropriately.
Ristafallet’s waterfall in the western part of Jämtland is listed as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Sweden. You can see the waterfall from the campsite. The water falls 50 meters wide and 14 meters deep down along some rocks.
Depending on the season the amount of water that falls is from 100 to 400 m³ per second. The waterfall provides a moisture damp that gives the woods a unique microclimatic there some rare lichens and mosses thrives very well. A wooded island splits up the river and divides the waterfall in two parts, both from the north and south side you can only see one side.
Beautiful masterpiece of nature art
Highly recommended
A beautiful waterfall about a 20 minute drive from Åre. From the parking it’s a 10 minute walk to the viewpoint. It’s a fairly easy trek.
Nice area and easy to find. Take care in the winter time it cane be slippery at the waterfall
Beautiful falls worth stopping in and having a walk around.
Don't forget to pay for parking.
Very beautiful gift of nature...hope to spend more time and explore the surroundings more...
